IHM International / IHM Africa – Advancing Health, Dignity and Prevention Through Humanitarian Action

Across rural regions of Tunisia, where access to healthcare and awareness remains limited, IHM initiatives bring essential knowledge directly to children and families—transforming schools into spaces of learning, prevention, and hope.

As part of this commitment, a dedicated field mission was carried out in primary schools located in underserved areas. Led by Dr. Emna Nouri, dentist specialized in bruxism, and Mr. Abdelmajid Ben Mlouka, dental design expert, and supported by a team of young volunteers, this initiative reflects the strength of collective humanitarian action driven by expertise and compassion.

Through simple, interactive, and age-appropriate sessions, children were introduced to the fundamentals of oral hygiene: proper tooth brushing techniques, the importance of daily care, and the impact of nutrition on their health. The message was clear and accessible: Healthy Teeth First—a foundation for overall well-being.

Beyond the transmission of knowledge, this initiative embodied the values of dignity, inclusion, and empowerment. Each child received a hygiene kit including a toothbrush, toothpaste, and educational materials, ensuring that prevention continues beyond the classroom and reaches the family environment.

These moments, captured through authentic images, reveal more than an educational intervention—they reflect human connection, solidarity, and the powerful role of volunteering in creating meaningful change. The smiles of children, filled with sincerity and hope, stand as a reminder that impactful development begins with simple, human-centered actions.

Through such initiatives, IHM International / IHM Africa reaffirms its mission: to contribute to health development by integrating social, educational, preventive, and community-based approaches.
